I crave chocolate nonstop now that I am pregnant. I was trying to find a way to put my cravings to rest without over indulging or choosing foods that do not necessarily nourish my body or the baby– and also foods that would be great to snack on if I still have those cravings post-partum when I am working to get my bod back!
These dark chocolate bites SAVE me! I have fallen in love with them, and the variations that you can create.
- Dark chocolate for baking (1 package)
- Dried fruit
Before you start, grab a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper. Next, I put a metal mixing bowl on top of a boiling pot of water on the stove. That way, the chocolate melts without burning to the pot! I did 1/2 of the package at a time, to make sure that I had time to add the dry fruit prior to the chocolate hardening. I scooped 1 tablespoon of dark chocolate onto the parchment paper and immediately added a “full pinch” of dried fruit. I made sure to get the pieces that we off to the side fully onto the chocolate so it would be less messy to eat later! I did this with the first batch, and then repeated for the second 1/2 of the dark chocolate. I left them in the freezer over night, and slipped them into a zip lock bag to take 1 bite at a time out when the cravings come full swing.
Have you tried these before? You can add whatever toppings you choose! I have done banana and peanuts, cranberry-raisins and shredded coconut, mixed dried fruit, and even some crumbled graham cracker crumbs.
Remember, these are to stop cravings. Try to save these over time by grabbing one at a time!
